Frank Fielding has suffered a training ground injury which has ruled him out of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Sheffield United.
The 31-year-old had only just returned from a torn quad which he suffered on the opening day of the Championship campaign.
Fielding was due to see a specialist as our paper went to press and that would give Millwall a better idea of how long he will be sidelined for.
It leaves the Lions facing the prospect of not having a senior option to back up or compete with Bart Bialkowski for a starting spot. One option could be to make a fresh move for Forest stopper Luke Steele, who came in on loan in August once Fielding was unavailable.
Millwall could move outside of the transfer window as Ryan Sandford has not played the amount of professional games to block them doing an emergency deal.
