Exclusive: Millwall defender Byron Webster set for League One move

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Byron Webster looks set to leave Millwall  – but the South Londoners will only allow the experienced defender to move on when they have secured a replacement.

The South London Press understands that Webster is ready for a move to League One. His current deal with the Lions only runs until the summer. Scunthorpe United are one of the clubs interested.

It would be a permanent switch for the 31-year-old.

Millwall are actively pursuing bringing in an experience centre-back on loan. Once that is completed then Webster will get the green light to head out.

He recovered from undergoing major knee surgery in time to feature for the Lions in pre-season. But his game time has been very limited in the current campaign with Jake Cooper, Shaun Hutchinson and Murray Wallace all ahead of him in the pecking order.
