Exclusive: Millwall defender set to make Leyton Orient loan move

Millwall defender Alex Mitchell is set to join Leyton Orient on loan.

The 19-year-old centre-back made his senior debut for the Lions in their EFL Cup win over Cambridge United on Tuesday.

Millwall manager Gary Rowett wants Mitchell to play regular football to aid his development. The teenager shone during a loan at Bromley at the end of last season, helping Andy Woodman’s side reach the National League play-offs.

Mitchell will work with former Lions manager Kenny Jackett, who succeeded Jobi McAnuff as Orient boss in May.

The O’s are sixth in the League Two table. Their next match is at Newport County on Saturday.
