Fisher boss takes his players off during game against AFC Croydon – with allegations they were racially abused

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Fisher’s SCEFL Premier Division match on Saturday was abandoned – after claims that Ajay Asanike’s players were subjected to racist abuse.

The Fish were losing 3-1 to AFC Croydon at the time when the fixture ended.

Asanike (pictured above) tweeted: “Dont no [sic] why people say things they no [sic] nothing about. All my players are safe and sound I made the decision to walk my players off the field for a reason. Im sorry to both set of fans who came today but I couldn’t ignore what happened.”

Fisher FC have been asked for a comment by the South London Press.

Tooting & Mitcham United saw their Isthmian League South Central promotion hopes dealt a knock as they lost 4-1 at home to Chipstead yesterday.

Jamarie Brissett scored for the Terrors in the 29th minute – to cut the deficit to 2-1 after early goals from Chris Boulter and Tom Collins.

Spencer Cripps extended the visitors’ advantage just before the break. Collins added a second on 53 minutes.

The result leaves Tooting sixth in the table.

Malik Ouani scored twice for Greenwich Borough as they beat Welling Town 4-3 in the SCEFL Premier. Alex Nelson and Stephen Ita also netted.

Lewisham Borough lost 3-2 at Forest Hill Park in the SCEFL First Division.
