Get fit in Balham at new dance school

A dance school has opened in Balham, offering a chance for people of all ages and fitness levels to try something new.

Dancer and teacher, Manon Batrel, 24, launched the London Kizomba School on Monday, August 30 at The Post – a venue minutes away from Balham Tube station.

Kizomba is a type of dance and music genre that originated from Angola and is rising in popularity throughout Europe.

It is performed in pairs with a leader and follower. Ms Batrel trained as an Afrolatin dancer in Paris before moving to Streatham, making it her base to kickstart a dancing career.

She said: “It was a natural step for me to set up my own dance school as it has always been a dream of mine. I am lucky to have other outstanding teachers on board to offer their skills and expertise to my students.

“To anyone who would like to try Kizomba but might be nervous about getting started, I’d say just go for it. Remember, we were all beginners once and my team is here to help you every step of the way.”
