Heavyweight sensation Daniel Dubois looking to break America on August 29

Greenwich’s Daniel Dubois will fight on American soil for the first time in his professional career as he takes on Joe Cusumano on August 29.

Dubois will be looking to build on a sensational knockout performance against Bogdan Dinu in June that saw him capture the WBA Interim Heavyweight Championship.

Dubois said: “I feel good about this and I have been waiting for the chance to get over to America and make my debut.

“Now it is finally here, I can’t wait. I want to go over there to make a statement, come away with a good win and then see what is next.

“It is definitely the chance to show them a future world champion and I have made some changes to my team and I am ready to get back up there again and challenge for big belts. I want to be back in the firing line.

“We will see how I look after more time with Shane McGuigan but in the gym I have been looking different and better. Now I can’t wait to show it all on fight night. I will be 100 per cent ready for it, while underestimating nobody, and will get the job done.

“I am sure Joe Cusumano will come and bring his A-game and that is what I want because it makes a better fight. We will clash in there and the winner takes all. The name Daniel Dubois will crack America now.”

Catford super-bantamweight Ellie Scotney (2-0) is set to feature on Matchroom Boxing’s Fight Camp on August 7.

She had been due to box in Newcastle in June but opponent Vanesa Caballero contracted Covid-19.
