“It’s a soft, soft goal” – Bristol Rovers boss Paul Tisdale unhappy at Charlton’s winner

Bristol Rovers manager Paul Tisdale described Jake Forster-Caskey’s clincher as “a soft, soft goal” – with the Charlton midfielder scoring direct from a corner kick.

The decisive moment came after 64 minutes.

Some media outlets gave the goal to Liverpool loanee Liam Millar but Addicks manager Lee Bowyer confirmed afterwards that Forster-Caskey’s delivery did not get a touch.

“It was a poor goal to concede,” said the Gas chief. “I won’t call it a mishit cross but it certainly isn’t the strongest corner we;ve faced.

“It was a really disappointing goal to concede from. They are all part of the same [defensive] unit – their job is to keep the ball from bouncing through that area.

“It’s not a case of blaming anybody – they are all culpable. It’s a soft, soft goal. We have to accept it’s not good enough and move on.

“We didn’t have enough in the final third. I didn’t think there was a lot in it, it was a very close game.

“I expected a very different game. I was expecting a more end to end game and more chances, it didn’t really turn out that way. We weren’t thoroughly beaten.

“We were a tad nervous and the shackles came off a little bit after we went 1-0 down.”

Abdel Nader is questionable however he is also in line for more minutes if he’s in a position to play.
