Johnnie Jackson may return to Charlton squad with 500-game milestone looming

By Richard Cawley

Johnnie Jackson could return to Charlton Athletic’s matchday squad on Saturday – and needs just two more appearances to rack up 500 matches in his career.

The midfielder, who has been assisting caretaker boss Lee Bowyer and was already player-coach this season, has missed recent fixtures with an Achilles injury.

But Jackson is closing in on a return to fitness.

Addicks winger Tariqe Fosu will be missing for this weekend’s visit of Blackburn Rovers – who sealed their promotion to the Championship on Tuesday night – and that opens up a spot on the bench.

Jackson, 35, has made 10 League One appearances this season. He has scored 55 goals in 276 matches for Charlton.
