Karl Robinson: Charlton Athletic will NEVER be out of the automatic promotion race

Karl Robinson is convinced that Charlton Athletic’s attacking players will have far more impact at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday – as they benefit from a rare midweek break from action.

And the Liverpudlian has vowed they are in the League One automatic promotion race – and there to stay.

The likes of Josh Magennis and Ricky Holmes have struggled to impact games with the latter, so often a matchwinner, having little tangible to show for his graft.

“Ricky leaves his legs on the pitch,” said Addicks boss Robinson. “I’ve never worked with a player who leaves so much on the pitch. When you are playing Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday it becomes difficult.

“The next two games we play Saturday-Saturday and you are going to see different energy levels – for all our players.

“We will never be out of this race – trust me. This side has got tremendous team spirit, tremendous togetherness and talent – but we need to add to it.”
