A Japanese restaurant will be fighting to keep the title of South London’s Best Takeaway and earn £5,000 as the shortlist for the 2017 British Takeaway Awards is revealed.
Bermondsey’s Poppy Hana will be going up against four other restaurants to take home the crown of Best Takeaway in South London. Other finalists are Jaflong Tandoori in Dulwich, Eastern Cuisine in Gypsy Hill, Village Tandoori in East Dulwich and Capones Pizza Parlour in South Croydon.
Restaurants make the shortlist via a month long public vote, where users of food delivery website Just Eat nominate their favourite food outlet.
Regional winners each scoop £1,000 and go on to contend for the ultimate title of Best Takeaway in Britain, which will earn the victor £5,000. The awards ceremony will take place at the Savoy Hotel in central London on November 27 and and will be judged by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriot and former Dragon’s Den star Sarah Willingham.
Finalists will be judged on a mystery shopping experience and a written submission on why they think they should win.
