BRIT award nominee Karis Anderson takes on Tina: The Tina Turner Musical

A Brixton BRIT award nominee is about to take on the role of Tina Turner in the West End.

The hit production Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, currently showing at the Aldwych Theatre in Drury Lane, has just announced new cast members.

Karis Anderson, who is currently in the ensemble, will now be sharing the role of Tina with Elesha Paul Moses.

Okezie Morro will join the show to play Ike Turner.

Ms Anderson is originally from Brixton and trained at The BRIT School in Croydon.

In January 2011, she joined the girl band Stooshe and after a year in development, they broke onto the UK music scene with the release of their first pop single Love Me, featuring American rapper Travie McCoy.

Stooshe quickly saw success with their monster song Black Heart, spending more than 16 weeks in the UK charts and receiving a nomination for Best British Single at the 2013 BRIT Awards, up against some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Adele.

Since moving into the theatre world, Ms Anderon is well accustomed to jumping into the roles of superstars, having already played Diana Ross in the Motown UK Tour.

Produced in association with Tina Turner herself, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, has all the hits but also covers the difficult subjects of her life including addiction, suicide and abuse.

To see Ms Anderson’s take on the superstar, visit the Aldwych Theatre in the West End before February 11.
