Hallyu! : The Korean Wave exhibition explores South Korean culture at the Victoria and Albert Museum

Whether it’s music, movies, fashion or beauty, the world has fallen in love with South Korea and its creative industries.

Now the rising popularity of South Korean culture – otherwise known as Hallyu, or the Korean Wave – has its very own exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Cromwell Road, South Kensington.

Hallyu! tracks the global phenomenon from its early beginnings in the late 1990s and rise to worldwide acclaim in the 2010s with K-Pop acts like Psy.

Costumes from the Netflix hit, Squid Game, are on display as well as a set recreation from Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning film Parasite.

You can glimpse into the future of K-fashion with works from young designers too.

Ji Won Choi’s leisurewear, made in collaboration with Adidas in 2019, is on display and has been worn by the likes of Beyoncé.

The Korean Wave is a playful exhibition grounded by informative sections that offer a historical context to the Korean culture we all know today.

Hallyu! : The Korean Wave is at the V&A until June 25.
