Journalists and authors team up for Wandsworth literary festival
Join friends and neighbours as well-known authors and journalists team up for a unique celebration of home grown talent.
Furzedown Literary Festival kicks off with a pre-launch event on March 30, when Balham novelist Bobbie Darbyshire will reveal the secrets of being a successful writer at the Furzedown Project in Moyser Road.
On May 10, Mitcham Lane Baptist Church in Mitcham Lane will welcome the Guardian’s John Crace, BBC’s former Security Correspondent Gordon Corera, barrister Nicola Williams, successful novelists Yara Rodrigues Fowler and Michael Donkor, plus writers Tom Newlands and Kathryn Faulke.
Interviewers include the Guardian’s Zoe Williams, the FT’s Sarah Neville, Wandsworth author and journalist Saima Mir, Liz Sayce OBE, chair of the Furzedown Project, and Alice Hattrick.
Four special children’s interactive sessions will feature storytelling, tales of everyday teenage heroes, screen writing and history.
This is the first Furzedown Literary Festival, set up by a group of volunteers in response to a lack of literary events in the area.
Limited numbers of early bird day tickets are on sale now for £25 and are selling fast. Standard tickets are £30.
