Liverpool loanee’s absence is explained by Millwall boss

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has revealed Sheyi Ojo’s absence from the matchday squad against Peterborough was purely a tactical one.

The on-loan Liverpool winger, 24, had been an unused substitute in the previous four matches but did not make the bench for Saturday’s 3-0 win at The Den.

Ojo has played 23 minutes of football since the middle of January.

Rowett said: “I think Sheyi’s been really unlucky. He came in, had a good impact, got injured and we had to bring other players in.

“I’m at a point where I have to pick the players I feel are going to have the most impact late in a season. Unfortunately Sheyi missed out today but he’s a good player and I’m sure he’ll show that in the next few seasons.”
