Loan hit Jordy De Wijs delighted at QPR stay

Jordy De Wijs is delighted to have turned his QPR loan into a permanent move, and says that he can’t wait for next season.

The fomer Dutch international initially joined the R’s on loan in January from Hull City and made nine appearances and scored one goal in the second half of the season.

De Jijs has signed a three-year contract at QPR.

“It feels really good to join permanently,” said De Wijs. “I’m over the moon and really happy to have signed on a permanent deal.

“I haven’t played as much as I would’ve liked to but in the games I have played I feel like I’ve helped the team to get some wins.

“When I signed in January it was a like a fresh start, it was exactly what I needed at this point in my career. I’m really happy that QPR gave me that opportunity to make that fresh start. I needed that.

“The team made it easy for me [to settle in], they made me feel really welcome. That made it easier for me to perform well. The defence has been really solid, the connection has been really good and that made us feel a lot more confident.

“Next season I hope to play more games. I want to have a good pre season and make sure I get in the rhythm and hopefully we can keep this winning mentality that we’ve had recently.

“I came here in January with an injury and I hadn’t played that many games at Hull. I needed to catch up on fitness with the lads. It was not an easy start, there was plenty of ups and downs. But we finished the season well. Now I can look forward to a good pre season and a good season ahead.

“I can’t wait for next season and hopefully we can keep this team together for next year and we want to push on like we did for the second half of the season. As long as we keep that winning mentality we can go far next season.

“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the QPR fans. I’ve played twice here with Hull and I know it’s going to be such a nice feeling when the stadium is packed. I’ve played here twice as an opponent, now I can’t wait to play here as a QPR player.”
