Mainz coach confirms striker is set to make Crystal Palace loan switch
Crystal Palace are set to sign Mainz striker Jean-Phillipe Mateta on an 18-month loan.
The 23-year-old is expected to undergo a medical tomorrow.
The Eagles will also have an option to buy Mateta, who has scored 10 goals in the current campaign, for around £13million.
Mainz coach Bo Svensson confirmed to German media this evening that Mateta is a target for Palace. He said: “If everything goes well, it will happen.”
Mateta has been capped by France at U21 and U19 level.
He signed for Lyon from Chateauroux in 2016 – penning a five-year contract.
Mateta scored 20 goals in 38 matches on loan for Le Havre before signing for Mainz in the summer of 2018.
