Mamma Mia! The Party, an ABBA musical experience showcases at the London O2 Arena

A member of the music sensation ABBA has created a theatrical dining experience currently playing in a renowned London arena, writes Linda Kurdi.

ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus created Mamma Mia! The Party, a musical experience showcasing ABBA hits in a four-hour show that comes with a four-course Greek feast and an ABBA disco all in one evening in the London O2 Arena, Peninsula Square.

Mamma Mia! The Party is set in a taverna on the Greek island of Skopelos, the location where most of the first Mamma Mia film was shot.

The story follows Nikos and his wife Kate as they run a restaurant together with their family and friends.

This romantic and funny story is told through dialogue and ABBA songs, all taking place around the audience as they sit at their tables enjoying a gourmet Greek meal, vegetarian and vegan options are available.

The evening ends with a 1970s disco, inviting the audience to sing and dance to ABBA.

Actress Kimberly Powell who plays Kate said: “The experience is brought to life the moment the audience steps into the purpose-built taverna, with the blue and white surroundings, bougainvillea flowers everywhere, fairy lights, a large dolphin fountain in the middle of the room, even with doors and set pieces used in the original Mamma Mia movies.

“This allows the audience, but also the characters, to completely immerse themselves in the experience.

“Even the temperature is warmer here, so you instantly feel like you’re on holiday.

“Bringing the character to life each night is so much fun as being part of an immersive production, you are able to play with the audience and get a different reaction each night, so you always have to keep on your toes!”

Mamma Mia! The Party is now accepting bookings until Sunday, October 2.
