A man died in a house fire in Hither Green this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Brightside Road to battle a fire on the ground floor of a terraced house.

When firefighters went inside the property wearing breathing apparatus they found the man.

Another man and a woman were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.

The London Fire Brigade was called shortly before 2.45pm and the fire was under control before 4pm.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Lee Green, Greenwich, Forest Hill and Eltham fire stations were at the scene.
