Man’s body found on fire in Mitcham

A man’s body was found on fire this morning.

Police were called to Commonside East, Mitcham, just before 6.15am to reports of a man on fire.

Officers attended and the body of a man was found. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained. A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

The investigation is being led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
