Merton dementia support group enjoys special tour of AFC Wimbledon stadium

AFC Wimbledon invited residents living with dementia and their carers for a special tour of Kingsmeadow stadium.

The residents are part of a dementia support group which meets monthly at the Alzheimer’s Society Merton dementia hub.

The group saw a change of venue this month when it was invited down to the Kingsmeadow ground.

The group is a collaboration between Alzheimer’s Society, the AFC Wimbledon Foundation and social enterprise Sporting Memories.

Focusing on the rich history and heritage of sport, the group provides a friendly, welcoming and safe environment for people affected by dementia and their carers.

The AFC Wimbledon Foundation has been instrumental in delivering the group sessions as part of their commitment to the Merton Dementia Action Alliance.
