Millwall boss gives verdict on Liverpool loanee’s debut

Gary Rowett is backing Sheyi Ojo to go from strength to strength as he gains more game time at Millwall.

The Liverpool winger signed on loan for the Lions on the final day of the summer transfer window. Ojo, 24, started in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion.

“Sheyi has not played a lot of football this season so far. I know the season is still in its infancy but he has only made a couple of pre-season appearances for the U23s at Liverpool,” said Millwall boss Rowett. “He coped well and got better as the game went on.

“He might be one who needs two or three games to see the very best of him. I was really pleased with his first game. He has made an encouraging start with us. I expect there is a lot more to come if he builds on that.”

Ojo has scored 11 goals in 92 Championship appearances. He featured 42 times for Cardiff City in the 2020-21 campaign.
