Millwall boss provides loan update with deadline at end of the month

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Neil Harris says that none of Millwall’s development squad will be heading out on loan before the deadline for deals at the end of this month.

The Lions allowed defender Danny McNamara, pictured above, to make a temporary move to Newport County at the end of July.

The 20-year-old has played County’s first two League Two fixtures.

Asked if any more of Kevin Nugent’s development squad could be on the move, Harris replied: “No.

“The young lads aren’t going out this window. It’s a fine balance whether they are ready.

“Danny has gone to Newport and played the first two league games which I’m really pleased about. It is a huge learning curve and bonus for him at such a tender age. We’ll continue to watch him very closely.

“James Brown is one we had high hopes for over the course of pre-season but he is out [injured] for three or four months. The other lads are very young in our U23 side. They need times to develop with Kevin Nugent and Paul Robinson.

“I brought Robbo in to support Nuge with coaching. It’s important they go out at the right times.”

  • So pleased Neil has let Danny out on loan as there can’t be anything more satisfying than getting first team experience under his belt a great learning curve for him.
