Millwall boss responds to transfer link to Norwich City winger

Neil Harris has ruled out a Millwall return for Ben Marshall.

The winger has joined the Lions on loan in the last two seasons – both times in the January transfer window.

Marshall has not been given a squad number by Norwich, who won promotion to the Premier League last season.

“I’m happy to talk about Ben because he has played for us twice,” said Harris. “He is not a player we’re looking to bring back this summer.

“I know social media has run amok with rumours.

“With some of the players linked there might be a natural link or it be players who have spent time with us previously and people put two and two together.

“Some of it there is a little bit of substance – we have spoken to agents and then agents leak things.

“At the moment we are working behind the scenes to add to the squad before we go to Portugal. My focus stays on recruitment right up until Saturday morning – until we go to Concord [for the club’s first pre-season friendly].

“Between 8am and 3pm my focus then becomes that game and the boys getting their minutes. It is not about performances or who is individually outstanding on the day, it is can we get boys through the game so they get their minutes.”
