Millwall defender Mahlon Romeo joins Cardiff City on three-year contract

Cardiff City have signed Millwall defender Mahlon Romeo on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Portsmouth.

“I’ve played in Cardiff a fair few times,” Romeo told Cardiff City’s official website. “I’m excited to play here actually for Cardiff City.

“Every time I’ve been here it has been loud and it’s a lovely stadium. I can’t wait to get going.”

Bluebirds manager Steve Morison was a former team-mate of Romeo’s at Millwall. The pair were in Neil Harris’ side which won the League One play-off final in 2017.

“Obviously, I know Mahlon really well,” said Morison. “I was with him when he came through, when he was a young pup. For me this is a perfect move for him.

“He’s going to bring bags of athleticism, real quality on the ball, and I can’t wait to see him galloping up the touchline.”
