Millwall manager on future of Derby County loanee Mason Bennett
Mason Bennett will miss Millwall’s final game of the Championship season tonight – with his future up in the air.
The attacker joined on loan from Derby County in January and scored twice after the league resumed following lockdown.
But Bennett came off with a hamstring injury in the 4-3 loss at QPR on Saturday and will play no part against Huddersfield this evening.
The Lions do have an option to make his move a permanent one, but it remains to be seen if the stop-start nature of his stay in SE16 will affect the prospects of a deal being struck.
Rowett said: “We know for Mase to have that run of games and stay fit is absolutely crucial, because when he stayed fit and played he’s shown what a difference he has made on the left-hand side.
“To have that pace and power, to have that goal threat, is something that we certainly need for next season.
“I’ve been really pleased with Mason, but unfortunately he’s picked the injury up which is going to stop him playing in the last game.”
