Millwall set to announce arrival of ex-Birmingham and AFC Wimbledon player
By Dan Marsh
Millwall are poised to snap up Connal Trueman on a short-term deal – paving the way for Ryan Sandford to head out on loan.
The former Birmingham City shot-stopper is a free agent after leaving St Andrews last month and will become the Lions’ sixth summer signing.
Trueman’s arrival will free up Sandford to leave the Den on a temporary basis. The Lions academy graduate, who is currently third-choice behind Bartosz Bialkowski and George Long, will link up with National League South outfit Dover Athletic.
Sandford has previously had stints on loan at Dorking Wanderers and Maidstone United but the 23-year-old has yet to make a senior appearance for the Lions.
Trueman spent six months on loan at AFC Wimbledon back in the 2020/21 campaign before his spell at Plough Lane was cut short.
The 26-year-old kept four clean sheets in 19 League One appearances for the Dons before his unexpected return to Birmingham.
