Millwall to make wholesale changes for FA Cup tie – with Watford match the top priority

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Gary Rowett will make a number of changes for Millwall’s FA Cup tie against Bristol City tomorrow – with his priority being Tuesday’s home game against Watford.

The Lions manager has previously confirmed that Frank Fielding will get another runout in goal.

And Tottenham loanee Troy Parrott is another expected to start – along with Shane Ferguson.

Rowett made eight changes for the 2-0 victory over non-league Boreham Wood in the previous round earlier this month.

And he knows a similar approach is required for the tie at The Den.

“I’ll have to do that – we’ve just come off the back of three hellish away trips,” said Rowett, below.

“We had a five-hour trip to Bournemouth, with traffic, and got back really late and then had another four or five-hour journey to Forest. We had to recover and go again for a five-hour journey to Huddersfield.

“Whichever way you look at it that takes a huge physical toll, particularly after the effort put in on Wednesday night. I can’t ask quite a few of those to go again on Saturday if I want them fresh for Tuesday.

“We’ve got some players who probably deserve a game and I think they can go in and do well. We aren’t talking about poor players – we are talking about full internationals or really, really good players.

“We’ll make changes. I’m sure Bristol City will as well.”
