Morecambe defender moves a step closer to Charlton Athletic switch
Charlton Athletic are working on a deal for Sam Lavelle – with the Morecambe captain travelling to London this evening to conclude a deadline day switch.
The Addicks had an initial bid rejected for the 24-year-old centre-back before having an offer in excess of £200,000 accepted.
Charlton have already paid out fees this summer for winger Charlie Kirk and centre-forward Jayden Stockley, who signed from Crewe and Preston North End respectively.
Lavelle has been capped by Scotland at U19 and U18 level. He has played 165 matches for Morecambe, who he joined on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers in August 2017.
His contract was due to expire at the end of June 2022.
Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard has sanctioned more than £1million to be spent on fees since he took control of the club – with Diallang Jaiyesimi arriving in the January window from Swindon Town.
