Murder probe after pensioner found dead in home with man in 50s arrested on suspicion of murder
An 89-year-old woman has been found dead in her home in Bexleyheath with a man in his 50s being arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
The arrested man was taken to hospital with self-inflicted injuries.
Police were called just after 3pm on Saturday after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman at a residential property in Barton Close.
Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and found the 89-year-old dead at the scene.
A 57-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken to hospital as a precaution for treatment to self-inflicted injuries.
He is believed to be known to the victim.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
The victims next of kin has been informed but the woman has not been publicly named.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) have been informed and a crime scene remains in place.
