Music, fun and laughter keep residents upbeat at Woodlands House Care & Nursing Home

Music, fun and laughter have kept residents at Woodlands House Care & Nursing Home in Colliers Wood upbeat and busy throughout the Covid19 pandemic.

Recently refurbished throughout, the care home has a wonderful range of luxury facilities designed to enable people to enjoy an array of activities and to help residents live life to the full.

Woodlands House now has its own pub, where residents regularly enjoy a hearty pub lunch followed by traditional pub quiz and sing-along.

Pamper afternoons are a great favourite with residents who have an on-site luxury hair-salon where they can have their hair and nails done in style.

Woodlands House have partnered with their local Dunelm store in Merton, which donated a £50 voucher to help fund equipment to support activities for residents at the home.

This week residents enjoyed a game of bingo with prizes funded by the store and once it is safe to do so residents will enjoy shopping at the store and making the most of the on-site café.

Woodlands Care & Nursing Home

Woodlands understands how important family is and where possible are allowing socially distanced visits in a dedicated area of the home, as long as it is safe to do so and in line with Government advice.

During the lockdown staff have facilitated daily phone and video calls for families.

One relative commented “The staff at Woodlands House have been very good at helping me to maintain contact with my mother during the difficult period of lockdown, when I was unable to visit her in the Care Home.

I have been able to telephone my mother regularly, and this has been very good at keeping me and my mother in touch with each other.

This has been a very difficult time – and still is – during which the staff at Woodlands House have coped very well.”

Throughout the lockdown the Woodlands House Facebook page has been a great way to show families what their loved ones have been doing whilst they were unable to visit.

Residents’ birthdays and special days are always marked and celebrated, chef Juliana always bakes a personalised cake for each person’s birthday and the day is celebrated by staff and residents.

Woodlands House Care & Nursing Home offers 24-hour nursing care, residential care, respite care and specialised dementia care for up to 64 residents.
