Neo-soul musician Ego Ella May nominated for jazz awards
Croydon-born neo-soul musician Ego Ella May has picked up two nominations for jazz awards.
The singer-songwriter was shortlisted for Soul Act of the Year and Vocalist of the Year at this year’s Jazz FM awards.
Ego Ella May’s debut album Honey For Wounds was released in June last year to critical acclaim.
She is due to release an EP called Fieldnotes on October 15.
The other artists shortlisted for Soul Act of the Year are Jon Batiste and Omar, while the singer will be up against Celeste and Georgia Mancio in the vocalist category.
This year’s ceremony will take place at Under The Bridge at Stamford Bridge, Fulham Road on October 28 and will be available to livestream via Jazz FM.
Jazz FM content director Nick Pitts said: “We are of course delighted that the Jazz FM Awards will return in 2021 to celebrate the incredible level of innovation, creativity and joy that the global jazz community has to offer.
“Jazz has provided a lifeline for so many of us over the last year and a half and we look forward to bringing everyone together again for what is sure to be a very special occasion.”
