40 firefighters tackle blaze caused by electrical fault

A fire engulfed a two-storey flat following an electrical fault yesterday morning.

Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters responded to reports of a fire at the maisonette in Osborne Road, Thornton Heath.

Half of a first-floor flat was damaged in the blaze. There were no reports of any injuries, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

Firefighters were called to the scene at around 11.45am and the fire was under control within an hour, by around 12.45pm.

Firefighters from Woodside, Croydon, Norbury and the surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
