Boy, 17, charged with murder after fatal shooting

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Jesse Lloyd-Smith, who was fatally shot last month.

The teenager will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court later today.

Jesse, 20, was shot in East Surrey Grove, Peckham, at around 5pm on July 10.

Emergency services attended the scene and Jesse was taken to hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died the following day.

Police continue to investigate the incident. Jesse’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

A man aged 21, a boy, 16, and a girl, 17, had previously been arrested and bailed in relation to the investigation.

After the shooting, Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila said: “The impact gun crime has on communities is horrific. 

“Jesse’s family are devastated and need to know who was responsible for his murder.”
