Boys hope to fund school trip with cover of Seven Nation Army
A group of 11-year-olds have pooled their musical talents to raise money for their school.
The ‘Lyndhurst Legends’ – four Year 6 pupils from Camberwell’s Lyndhurst Primary School – have raised £360 so far through their own record sales.
Ruben, Leopold, Leo and Ellis have sent copies of their cover of ‘Seven Nation Army’ by the White Stripes to those who donate.
The proceeds will go towards their Year 6 end-of-year trip to Purbeck Valley in Dorset, as well as leavers hoodies and school yearbooks for the students.
Since September 2024 the youngsters have been rehearsing before recording the song in Camberwell, after coming up with the idea of writing and selling a song to raise funds.
Band member Ellis said: “When we recorded the song, we all played our parts and Leo’s dad put it all together and it was fun.
“We’re hoping to raise a lot of money so everyone can go on the school journey in Dorset and we can all have a good time. We’ve been rehearsing together for a few months.
“The next step is to have a couple of songs that we can perform in front of the whole school in the summer”.
The Lyndhurst Legends have generated donations through the new platform ‘Superkind’, which provides a safe place intended for children to fundraise money.
The boys are hoping to perform as a band later in the year at their school prom.
