Children get busy for charity

Children at Busy Bees nursery in Charlton, took part in a ‘spotacular’-themed celebration for BBC’s Children in Need, which aims to raise funds for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

To kick-off the fundraising, staff planned a fun-filled day of spotty-themed activities for the nursery in Charlton Road. Children and staff were sponsored to wear pyjamas and even enjoyed an impromptu pyjama dance party.

The older children at the nursery also hosted a bake sale for parents, while the younger children took part in a teddy bear’s picnic. In all, they raised £600.

Nursery manager Kate Cropley said: “All of the children and nursery staff were really excited about Children in Need this year, raising as much money as we can for a good cause. Every child deserves the best start in life.

That’s why we’re helping people who are less fortunate by hosting and participating in fundraising events. It’s great to see the community, from parents to locals, coming together to support a great cause.

“The added bonus is that the children got to enjoy helping people through spotty-themed activity fun. It’s also top of our priority list that the children learn a little bit about why we help Pudsey raise money and who it can help.”
