Conservatives pick assistant headteacher as candidate to stand in Streatham and Croydon North

The Conservatives have picked an assistant headteacher as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) for Streatham and Croydon North ahead of the general election.

Anthony Boutall is assistant headteacher at an Orpington school and lives in Croydon with his wife and daughter, having previously lived in Crystal Palace.

Previously, Anthony served as a councillor in Bedford, during which time he secured major road repairs, successfully campaigned against councillor pay increases and led a local task force tackling antisocial behaviour.

He took part in the May 2022 elections for Croydon council which resulted in Conservative Jason Perry becoming the borough’s first ever executive mayor.

He said: “I look forward to working hard and fighting for every person in this new constituency – whoever they are and whatever their background.”
