Entries open for competition shining a light on community’s faith and belief projects
An awards programme in Southwark to celebrate faith and belief projects that contribute to the borough has opened for entries.
The Southwark Faith and Belief Community Awards, run by the Faith and Belief Forum (FBF), Southwark council and Southwark Multi Faith Forum, was launched in 2022.
Musharraf Chaudhury, chairman of Southwark Multi Faith Forum, said: “There are so many incredible people and community groups that do wonders for Southwark in so many ways.
“This is a great way to recognise and celebrate our community heroes. We encourage you to nominate the hard work and dedication of the deserving individuals and groups that help make Southwark the wonderful borough that it is.”
Free to apply, residents have until August 11, to submit their entries across five categories.
Applicants can nominate individuals and projects for an award.
Categories include promoting inclusion, welcoming refugees, supporting health and wellbeing, inspiring young people and caring for the environment.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on September 26, at Southwark council, in Tooley Street.
Sophie Mitchell, programme coordinator at the FBF said: “The awards are about shining a light on individuals and groups who make a huge positive impact on local people in the borough.
“I encourage everyone to submit a nomination, for an individual or a project that they know, to receive an award at this special event!”
