Final leg of Elephant and Castle regeneration revised
The final phase of the Elephant and Castle regeneration has been revised with new plans submitted to the council.
Build-to-rent group Get Living have altered proposals for the West Site, the third and final phase of the £1.5billion project which will replace the old London College of Communication (LCC) student buildings.
Changes include 507 rental homes with 165 set aside as affordable, alongside the introduction of 452 student beds to meet growing demand and a new public square.
The updated plans follow community feedback and drop some retail space in favour of more homes as well as tweaking architectural designs and creating a new cultural venue.
The final phase is set to come forward in 2028, after LCC completes its move across the road.
Get Living’s first phase, Elephant Central, opened in 2017 with 374 homes, 278 student rooms and a raft of commercial space.
The second phase, known as “The Elephant”, is due to open in 2026 with 485 homes and the new university building alongside shops, restaurants, and a new London Underground ticket hall.
