‘Framed Fantasies’ come together in new show of art at Chapter House
A new exhibition showcasing the work of established and up and coming artists has opened at The Chapter House at Merton Abbey Mills – with a collection of paintings, pottery and photography on display.
The 12th century venue is hosting the ‘Framed Fantasies’ exhibition, which has been supported by the Wandle Heritage Charity and Ripple Arts London. A private viewing took place on Friday.
Also unveiled was “Mattie” the clown, which is a portrait of Matthew Faint, 53 years a clown, and curator of the Clown Museum, Holy Trinity Church, Dalston. The painting was featured in “Call the Midwife” tv series, the artist is Julie Proctor, the only clown egg artist in the world.
Ron Newsham, co-organiser of the event, said: “A good time was had by all at the ‘Framed Fantasies’ art exhibition at the Chapter House, and we hope to welcome many more people over the coming week.”
The exhibition will be open from Friday to Sunday this week 11am-4pm.
