If you went down to Greenwich Market on Friday you were sure of a big shock.
Every stallholder and quite a few customers donned Halloween fancy dress to give the area a suitably ghoulish feel – but the customers were not put off.

Onora Hewitt, six, from Kidbrooke Park, doing a brilliant impression of movie character Beetlejuice, won the best child’s carved pumpkin – her prize is a family ticket to see Charlton Athletic play. The best traders’ carved pumpkin was created by a thrilled Jo Burke from Standing on Custard.
Best stall was created by photographer Jacqui Hawking, with a dark display which showed off some brilliant pictures. Best-dressed traders were the Churro Angels – two wicked-looking witches. Best dressed children in the fashion show were Aaliyah Orogiri, Vincent and Sasha Hong – you wouldn’t want to meet them on a dark night. Or a light one, for that matter.

Ana Rakitina, from Greenwich Market, said: “The Halloween Happening in Greenwich Market on Friday was a fitting end to a fantastic week of half-term Halloween fun.

“The children really loved the Miss Libby Rose free costume-making workshops and looked amazingly scary in the freaky fashion show.

“The Gore Stall provided the brilliant finishing touches.
“As always our traders entered into the spirit of the event with wickedly wonderful stalls and costumes – all in all a Halloween to remember.”
