Man charged with murder of woman as victim of fatal stabbing named
A man has been charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Lewisham on Wednesday.
The woman has been named by the Met as 32-year-old Tia Simmonds, who lived at the address.
Shane Simmonds, 38, of Parbury Road, Honor Oak, appeared in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court yesterday, charged with her murder.
He has also been charged with two counts of rape in connection to another woman.
He was remanded in custody to attend the Old Bailey on Monday.
Cops launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
At around 4.30am, a man attended a police station claiming to have harmed a woman at a house in Parbury Road.
When they arrived, police found the body of a 32-year-old woman.
Tia’s next of kin have been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to be held at Greenwich Mortuary today.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Webb said: “As I have previously stated, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this murder.
“This is a truly tragic incident and our thoughts remain with Tia’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time.”
