Merton Friends of the Earth tend to flowerbeds on ‘pollinators corner’

By Auriel Glanville

Merton Friends of the Earth were out on Saturday tending to the flowerbeds they call “Pollinators Corner”.

Located in Lower Morden Lane, the wildlife volunteer group has looked after the flowers for a number of years to the pleasure and joy of residents.

Caroline Gates of Merton Friends of the Earth and organiser of the flowerbeds, said: “We really had a brilliant morning, with thanks to everyone who volunteered to help.  It was so productive and also so much fun, all working together as a team.

“After maintenance we put in some Evening Primrose, Ragged Robin, and Gardinillia plants, and a little assortments of treasures.

“So the beds are set to offer our pollinators a real banquet over the summer and give much joy to people passing by and this included Councillor Sally Kenny, who visited us.”
