Charge of attempted murder after alleged attack on a 59 bus in Brixton

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a disturbance on a bus in Brixton that has left a man fighting for his life.

Nathan Grant, 39, of Lambeth Walk, Brixton, was charged on Friday. He is also charged with theft.

He appeared in custody at Croydon Crown Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, December 20.

The Specialist Crime Command launched an investigation following an incident involving two men on a route 59 bus in Brixton Road at around 10.20am last Thursday.

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident, where he remains in a critical condition. His family have been informed.

Grant was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was taken into police custody.

At this stage it is not thought any weapons were used in the incident but enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
