A council’s adult learning programmes were praised by Ofsted for supporting local learners.
The inspection of Lambeth council’s adult learning services took place at the end of February this year and the report was released on April 1.
The overall conclusion was that Lambeth council ‘continues to be a good provider’ and there are many opportunities to access support services.
Councillor Marcia Cameron, Lambeth council’s cabinet member for economic inclusion, said: “This council is wholeheartedly dedicated to empowering our residents to develop the skills necessary for securing well-paying jobs, enabling them to provide for their families and contributing to our borough.
“Our adult learning service is vital to achieving this vision, and I am thrilled that this Ofsted inspection highlights the exceptional quality of provision.
“While we celebrate our achievements, we recognize that there is always room for improvement. This inspection offers us invaluable insights to further elevate our services, and we are committed to that journey.”
The council provides adult learning courses funded by the Greater London Authority through community partners at venues including children’s centres, community spaces and libraries.
During the inspection, more than 750 residents enrolled in council’s courses with two-thirds on tailored programmes like maths, English, family learning, health and well-being, digital skills and creative skills.
In total, since August last year, more than 2,000 residents have studied with the service.
