Old Bailey hearing for man charged with killing father

A man from Southwark has appeared in court charged with murdering his own father.

Craig Chaters, 37, of Cormont Road, appeared in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today charged with the murder of 68-year-old Larry Chaters – who died on Thursday after being admitted to hospital with injuries.

Chaters was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.

He was arrested on January 2 after attending a South London police station.

A post mortem examination took place on Saturday, and gave a cause of death as pneumonia and chest injuries.
