PC accused of rape to appear before Westminster Magistrates

A Met officer is due in court today to face a charge of rape.

PC Rupert Edwards, attached to the South West Command Unit – an area covering Wandsworth and Merton – was charged on March 19 as part of an investigation following allegations made in 2023.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The charge relates to one female victim. PC Edwards was off duty when the alleged offence took place.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and PC Edwards has been suspended from duty.
