Public invited to have their say on blueprint for a more bike-friendly Greenwich

Greenwich council is asking for feedback on the proposed design for improvements to walking and cycling infrastructure in the town centre.

The local authority is consulting on proposals that will help improve accessibility for people walking and cycling around the town centre.

It also looks to connect the existing Cycleway 4 (cycle route between Tower Bridge and Greenwich) with the Old Royal Naval College, providing a safe and direct cycling route between Anchor and Hope Lane and central London.

Cllr Averil Lekau, cabinet member for climate action, sustainability and transport said: “We are committed to creating a more sustainable and accessible town centre for all residents and visitors, making it easier, safer and greener to move around the borough and the rest of London.

“We need community input on the proposals to help create a safer and more enjoyable environment for all. This consultation is an important opportunity for the public to share their views and help shape the future of walking and cycling in Greenwich town centre.”

The consultation opened on Monday and will run until February 28, with opportunities for residents to provide feedback through online surveys and drop-in sessions.
