Renewed appeals with CCTV footage as mystery Soho death remains unexplained

Police investigating the death of a man in Soho have issued footage of three people they are asking to come forward, as they may have vital information.

On the morning of Sunday, April 3, 2023, police were called by the London Ambulance Service to a residential property in Soho Square following reports of a man found unresponsive.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as 55-year-old Steven Grygelko.

Steven’s death is being treated as unexpected and remains under investigation while officers continue to liaise with the coroner.

The Met have so far not explained why the appeal is being made more than a year and a half after the event – or whether the images have only recently come to light.

Detective Chief Inspector Dean Purvis, from the Met’s Central West Command Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Steven’s family and friends who still have a lot of unanswered questions about what happened to him.

“We know that the three men in the CCTV images were at the flat in the early hours of April 3, 2023.

“I am asking them to contact police. We need to establish what happened, and how Steven was when they left.

“If you recognise any of the men, I would encourage you to let us know who they are.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1824/03Apr23.
