St George’s Hospital in Tooting makes appeal to raise money for Macmillan via virtual coffee morning
Crucial coffee mornings to raise money for a cancer charity look likely to lose up to three-quarters of their annual income – unless residents rally round.
St George’s Hospital Trust’s Macmillan Cancer Care Team is hosting its annual Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser on Friday.
Last year’s event, attended by staff, patients and the public, raised more than £4,540.
Macmillan manager Estelle Le Galliot said: “We know just how crucial every penny raised at a Macmillan Coffee Morning will be this year – the charity has never been needed more, but is facing a huge drop in donations.
“So, we decided to get creative and host a ‘virtual’ fundraiser via Zoom.”
Supported by our partners at Move More Wandsworth, the St George’s Macmillan Coffee Morning will be taking place at 11am on Friday.
To get involved simply email: swlccgmovemorewandsworth@nhs.net. You can donate via a special QR code, so you can show your support from the comfort of your own home.
“To add to the fun, we will be having a cake-themed quiz, with prizes for the winners,” said Ms Le Galliot.
“It’s the 30th anniversary of Macmillan Coffee Morning and the charity has never needed the public’s support more.
“Here at St George’s, we can’t wait to raise a mug virtually and make some dough for vital cancer services.”
