A supported housing service for people with physical disabilities has been named as a finalist at a national industry awards.

St. John’s House in Westwell Road, Streatham, has been shortlisted in the national Inside Housing Development Awards under the ‘Best Healthy Homes Development’ category.

The ‘Best Health Homes Development’ award highlights services that demonstrate how sustainable development and quality living spaces can positively impact the physical and mental wellbeing of their residents.

The residential service, run by the national not-for-profit housing organisation Sanctuary Supported Living, recently underwent redevelopment after a £4million investment from Sanctuary.

The newly renovated St. John’s house now houses 14 individual flats, as well as accessible common spaces and assistive technology to make the space more functional for residents with physical disabilities.

Sanctuary Supported Living’s director, Dave Shaw, said: “Being named a finalist in the ‘Best Healthy Homes’ category is a testament to our commitment to enhancing well-being through design.

“We are thrilled to be acknowledged for our efforts in developing homes that benefit the physical and mental health of the people who live with us, and give them the opportunity to live more independent lives.”

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on September 27.
